Today is a Bahá’í Holy Day

9 07 2010

On this day in 1850, one of the central figures of the Bahá’í Faith, Siyyid Ali-Muhammad whom we call “The Báb”, was executed by firing squad in the main square of the Iranian city of Tabriz. The day is now commemorated by Bahá’ís across the world as a “Holy Day” when they stop doing any paid work and instead spend their time either in prayer and meditation or in carrying out acts of service for their friends, neighbours and other members of their community.

As for me, I’ve been reading some other Bahá’í blogs and updating this one on The Tiverton Bahá’í, which I’m now registering with Technorati.

I’m on Twitter!

28 01 2010

The Tiverton Bahá’í now has a Twitter account and I am following other Bahá’ís and Bahá’í organizations from across the world (and they are following me). It means that posts on this blog can be publicized much more widely. I’m already exchanging tweets with fellow Bahá’ís who want to know more about me and my ‘community’.

So, if you want to join in the conversation, be sure to follow The Tiverton Bahá’í on Twitter.

The Tiverton Bahá’í is ready to roll!

16 05 2009

After a lot of hard work constructing the site, The Tiverton Bahá’í is ready to be launched tomorrow at the Devon Bahá’í cluster meeting in Chudleigh. I hope that I will be able to persuade the Bahá’ís there to create their own websites or blogs. Creating a website nowadays is so easy, especially if you use something like WordPress to do it.

For those Bahá’ís who want a website specifically for the Bahá’ís of Devon, I have also created a group page on Facebook, so that they can post information about their local activities, invite fellow Bahá’ís to their events, and discuss matters of interest in a forum.

The next job I have to do is start advertising The Tiverton Bahá’í across the Web. Technorati, anybody?
